The annual Honda Civic Tour is not only a celebration of music, it is a "vehicle" of sorts for sharing the importance of taking care of our Earth. Each headlining act designs a custom Honda Civic - an environmentally friendly car with style and sense. They also express through their words, video, and other media the importance of living green and how everyone can make the world a cleaner place.

The entire tour process is evaluated and planned with the greenest footprint possible. From recycling to using bio-degradable products and energy-efficient lighting, the Honda Civic Tour continues to break ground in creating new ways to tour green. And enivronmentally-friendly organizatons benefit by receiving support from part of the tours proceeds.

The Honda Civic Tour celebrates its 10th anniversary this year by bringing back Blink-182, who co-headlined the first HCT. Co-headling the 10th anniversary Honda Civic Tour is one of my favorite bands, My Chemical Romance. This year's North Carolina Honda Civic Tour stop is at Charlotte, NC, September 20, at the Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre. I am very excited about seeing My Chemical Romance on this year's Honda Civic Tour. I first saw MCR in 2005 when they opened for Green Day. I've seen them two times since then - December 2006 and in the spring of 2007. The new MCR album Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys is one of my favorite new albums and I can't wait to see them perform songs from it.

While Blink-182 designed this year's custom Honda Civic, My Chemical Romance custom designed a Honda CBR250R motorcycle. You can see both Honda vehicles on display at this year's Honda Civic Tour concerts.

I didn't get to see Blink-182 on their 2009 come-back tour, but my wife saw them and said it was one of the best concerts she's ever been to, so I'm looking forward to get a chance to see this legendary band play live at Charlotte.

The Honda Civic Tour launched in 2001 with Blink-182 headlining the first leg and Everclear topping the bill on the second leg. The next year Incubus was at the helm, followed in 2003 by Good Charlotte and New Found Glory (who returned to support Paramore for the 2010 Honda Civic Tour), Dashboard Confessional in 2004, Maroon 5 in 2005, and the Black Eyed Peas in 2006.

My first Honda Civic Tour was in 2007, when Fall Out Boy headlined. That 2007 HCT lineup included Cobra Starship, Paul Wall, +44, and another band I love, The Academy Is.... That tour was originally set to kick off in April at Charlotte, NC, but the start of the tour was postponed. FOB and friends put on an amazing show at Charlotte's Verizon Wireless Amphitheatre.

Fall Out Boy's Fueled by Ramen labelmates Panic at the Disco were pegged to headline 2008's Honda Civic Tour lineup, which included Motion City Soundtrack, The Hush Sound, and Phantom Planet (who also were part of the 2002 Honda Civic Tour roster).

There was no official Honda Civic Tour in 2009 but Honda did keep the tradition of having a Honda Civic customized by a band. That year, the Civic was designed by the All American Rejects.

Last year's Honda Civic Tour with headliner Paramore opened in North Carolina, this time at Raleigh, not too far from Crown Honda of Greensboro. Unfortunately, I couldn't make it to that show (but I did get to see Paramore at Warped Tour a few years ago). Fortunately, my daughters were able to go. My younger daughter ended up being quoted in Rolling Stone magazine's article about the Honda Civic Tour by Mark Kemp. She thought that was the coolest thing until she got pulled up onstage by Katy Perry in the opening show of Perry's California Dreams tour in June 2011, but that's another story.

Please keep me in mind the next time you are ready to buy a new Honda. I've been selling Hondas since 2005 because I believe in Honda automobiles - and the Honda Civic Tour!
